Ahane GAA : Weekly Notes 10th July 2017
Senior Hurling : the Senior hurlers continued their preparations for round 4 of the Club Hurling Championship against Kilmallock with their last ACHL match of the year against Na Piarsaigh on Tuesday evening in Caherdavin. Both teams used the opportunity to try out different formations, but both teams served up a highly entertaining and high scoring match with Na Piarsaigh edging a tight 1st half 1-09 to 0-10 and with many changes made in the 2nd half the game opened up and finished in the end on a scoreline of 3-22 to 2-20 to Na Piarsaigh. Next up was a very competitive challenge match on Saturday morning against Clarecastle which Ahane edged out in the end by 2-18 to 0-18.
Minor Hurling : the Minor Hurlers followed up last week’s Premier match against Na Piarsaigh with another titanic match against Mungret in Mackey Park on Friday evening and despite missing 2 players because of holidays and also conceding an early goal with virtually the 1st ball hit into the square, Ahane recovered to lead by 1-04 to 1-01 after 15 minutes. Ahane scored another goal, but Mungret scored another 3 goals to leave just 4 pts in it on a scoreline of 4-07 to 2-9 to Mungret at half time in what was a highly entertaining and skillful game of hurling. Ahane came out of the blocks fastest in the 2nd half and quickly brought it back to a 1 point game as they dominated the game. It was really nip and tuck at this stage as both teams served up a brilliant display of Premier Hurling and despite Ahane having Mungret under severe pressure throughout the 2nd half, unfortunately Mungret held out to win by 4-15 to 2-17. 2-17 would have been enough to win most matches and huge credit must go to all of Ahane's players who fought right up to the final whistle and never gave up.
Junior Footballers : The footballers have concluded their Division 4 campaign for this year with a draw against Gerald Griffins. The focus for the rest of this year is on the East Junior championship of which the next round takes place next Thursday, 13-July with a game at home to Kilteely at 7.30pm. All support would be greatly welcomed.

Gach seans go gcuirfidh said an bó thar abhainn dé Céadaoin agus go mbeidh gach duine ag súil le cluiche ceannais. Go néirí le Tom Morrissey agus a fhoireann agus go mbeidh oíche glórmhar acu ar an 12ú Iúil!
U10 : the U10 hurlers played an entertaining game away to Claughaun on Friday last.
U12 : the U12 Footballers have their first outing in Phase 2 of the Football League on Thursday next with an away trip to Ballybrown.
U14 : the U14 Footballers have an away league game against Belleville Gaels in Feenagh.
U16 : well done to the U16 footballers who had recent victories over Monaleen and Rathkeale despite missing a number of players away on holidays. A big thank you to the 3 U14 players, Liam, Gavin and Shane who participated in the games. Next up is U16 hurling championship against Murroe, in Murroe on Monday 17th July at 7.15. No training this Wednesday due to Limerick U21 match versus Clare. Training will be later in the week and players will be advised.
Limerick U21 Hurlers : Ahane GAA would like to wish the best of luck to Tom Morrissey (Captain) and all the Limerick panel in the U21 game v Clare in the Munster U21 Hurling Championship Semi Final in the Gaelic Grounds on Wednesday 12th July.
Ahane GAA Cul Camp : 10-14th July : we have a record number of boys and girls taking part in the Cul Camp this week which is being led by Sean Og Herbert - well done to all involved and we hope everyone has an enjoyable week of GAA, having fun and making new friends.
